This page is dedicated to my Blue Heeler Ashkii, and the mug photo on the right describes him to a tee. He’s a great dog if you like loyal, rambunctious, stubborn, mischievous, a bit of an asshole, and ready to go on any adventure at any time. The name Ashkii comes from the Navaho word for “boy,” and it suits him perfectly. Though I love his pain-in-the-ass attitude most of my friends and family tolerate him at best.
I picked the little guy up at seven weeks old right before I purchased the house in Oklahoma to remodel. From the beginning, he was up to hop in the truck and go anywhere and has traveled with me quite a bit. He is at his best out on my hunting property and never needs a leash.
A trip to Hunting property – August 2018
At just about three months old it was time for Ashkii to visit the hunting property. I badly needed to service the feeders, and it was time to see how he would handle being off-leash with me out in the woods. As expected, he is at his best out in the open. He immediately located the trail and would never get more than 15 or 20 yards ahead and would stop look back and wait for me to catch up. Couldn’t ask for a better companion in the woods.
After the raking up all the leaves I decided not to bag them up as Askii was having way to much fun.
